Michael Robben, a passionate architectural photographer from Oldenburg, Germany, is constantly looking for new approaches and challenges in photography. This curiosity for change and development leads him to try out different styles and possibilities. For Michael, photography is not just about capturing moments, but a creative process that gives him peace and concentration. The transition from reality to artistic interpretation, and sometimes deliberate alienation, continues to open up new possibilities and inspire him in many different ways.

Michael currently specialises in black and white photography and fine art architectural photography. His photographs show buildings and urban structures from unusual angles, giving even familiar buildings a new and fresh aesthetic. His often minimalist approach - the deliberate omission of detail - allows him to capture the essence of a building. It is this minimalist style that gives his images their striking power. His skilful use of line and the contrasting play of light and shadow allows him to make buildings appear larger, more imposing and yet more tangible.

Characteristic of his work is the harmonious interplay of fine grey tones, soft light and precise contours, enhanced by his handling. The contrasts create an almost metallic appearance that gives the buildings in his images a particular elegance and power. In this way, he succeeds in transporting the viewer into the world of architecture, where forms and structures are at the centre of attention, without obscuring the surroundings. This also demonstrates Michael's courage in highlighting sections that get to the heart of a building's essence, without losing the overall character of the architecture. He skilfully experiments with perspective and lighting to reveal both the sublime and the abstract in a building - a balance that makes his images so unique and fascinating.

Another focus of his work is the detailed photography of everyday objects. He photographs and processes these subjects with the same care and artistic precision as his architectural photographs. By deliberately reducing his work to the essentials and using his trademark minimalism, he transforms even everyday objects into fascinating works of art. Things that often go unnoticed suddenly appear abstract and extraordinary through his lens. His play with form and structure gives even the simplest objects a special aesthetic and makes them appear in an unusual, almost surreal light.
