Dr Jeremy Jackson lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a professor of psychometrics and statistics, he has combined scientific precision with a passion for photography for decades. His academic career ranges from the philosophy of measurement methods and statistical consulting in cancer research to teaching statistics and scientific theory, and is characterised by analytical clarity and structural thinking. This intellectual discipline is also reflected in his photography, which is focused, reduced and well thought out.

He has devoted himself to landscape photography for more than three decades — not as a passing hobby, but as a serious engagement with the natural world. Although he was initially drawn to the Canadian Rocky Mountains, he later rediscovered the wild and often overlooked beauty of the North Cascades on his doorstep. This proximity to his own habitat continues to influence his work to this day. For him, landscapes are not distant postcard motifs, but familiar spaces that are constantly being explored anew.

The works exhibited at 10Fotos reflect this attitude impressively. Enormous glaciers, softly drawn foggy landscapes, graphic birch trunks in autumn and abstract compositions of leaves floating in water demonstrate his vast range. The clarity of his visual language is particularly striking: lines lead precisely through the composition, colours are deliberately placed and light is used in a controlled manner, rather than being dramatised. Whether it's a starry sky above alpine peaks, finely structured sandstone formations or quiet reflections in the morning mist, each image appears focused and self-contained.

Jeremy combines classic landscape photography with a keen sense of form and structure. Some of his works verge on abstraction yet remain connected to the real landscape. His photographs capture not only spectacular places, but also quiet, overlooked moments, such as a solitary tree shrouded in mist or autumn leaves arranged in a striking pattern on the water's surface. This balance of vastness and intimacy lends his work a special depth.

His ambition extends beyond mere aesthetics. Like the great landscape photographers before him, he views photography as an invitation to experience the landscape anew. Not every beautiful place is located in a national park — many special locations are right on your doorstep. His pictures express this belief: they reveal beauty to attract attention and encourage appreciation.
