His long career as a freelance photographer, which began before the turn of the millennium, is reflected in an impressive range of projects, including national and international assignments in South East Asia, Africa, India and Europe. Over the course of his career, he has not only gained recognition for his precise imagery, but has also become a sought-after trainer and workshop leader.

In addition to his work as an architectural photographer, Walter discovered his passion for landscape and travel photography in the early 2000s. He is particularly fascinated by the ability to capture natural scenes with long exposures, which gives his images a special, almost painterly quality. He works with a fine sense of composition and line, which he acquired during his years of architectural photography and which is expressed in his fine art series such as 'Lakeside', 'Seaside' and 'Cityside'.

His images are characterised by their versatility, ranging from abstract, artistic interpretations to brilliant documentary shots. He impresses with exciting perspectives and a wide range of compositions, from detailed to minimalistically reduced. Preferring a naturalistic character, he uses subtle, less intense colour tones to give his work a refined, high quality feel. In this way, he demonstrates that sophisticated and captivating photography does not always require 'perfect' light, but can also unfold its full effect during the day and in everyday situations.

A focus of his work is the transfer of photographic knowledge. Since 2014, Walter regularly offers workshops and photo tours (fotoreiserei.at) where he shares his extensive knowledge and many years of experience. He combines practical training with cultural and often culinary experiences, especially in his favourite region, Tuscany, but also in other inspiring places from Morocco to Spain and the Lofoten Islands. The result is not only an intensive learning process, but also an atmosphere in which fun and creative exchange are as important as professional expertise.

Walter's work has also been recognised internationally. He has won prestigious awards such as the International Photography Awards (IPA), ND Awards and the Gold Medal at the PX3 - Prix de la Photographie Paris. Numerous publications in magazines such as 'architektur.aktuell', 'H.O.M.E.' and 'DETAIL' confirm his reputation as an outstanding photographer.
