Ulla Moswald
The camera played a role in Ulla Moswald's life from an early age - back then it was her mother's analogue Canon AE-1. But as is so often the case, it is the winding roads that lead to true passion. After growing up in the Ruhr area and spending many years in Berlin, the photographer now lives in the community of Tating on the North Frisian peninsula of Eiderstedt. Between mudflats and clouds, tides and spray, she has found her artistic home. And the perfect stage for photography that thrives on light, space and atmosphere.

Ulla is a seeker. She is not just looking for beautiful landscapes - she is looking for moods, for bright colours just before sunrise, for fog banks at dawn and quiet moments as the daylight fades. This fascination with the special nature of the off-peak hours of the day is a recurrent theme in her work. Rarely is a photograph taken at midday, rarely is the sky a dull blue. Instead, dramatic clouds, subtle colour transitions and harmonious contrasts dominate - always carefully composed and executed with technical precision.
The focus is often on the classic themes of landscape and architectural photography: coastlines, lighthouses, mountains, urban scenes with water - places that create a special tension through their structure, history or location. But Ulla is not interested in the pure motif, but in what it radiates at a particular moment. Her images invite you to linger and take a closer look. Careful post-processing plays an important role: colours are emphasised, light moods are enhanced - never exaggerated, but with a clear signature.
It's no surprise that Ulla's photographic travels have taken her far beyond the shores of Schleswig-Holstein. From islands such as Madeira, Iceland and the Lofoten to the French Atlantic coast, Alpine landscapes and the Danish North Sea, she explores a wide range of landscapes with a keen eye, always staying true to her distinctive style. Her visual language remains unmistakable: calm, intense and rich in atmosphere.
Despite her passion for distant places, Eiderstedt is her anchor. Many of her works have been created here and in the surrounding area - and her photographs have long been an integral part of the regional cultural landscape: as a permanent exhibition in Tating's "Swiss House", in holiday homes and surgeries, in calendars or as advertising motifs for the Schleswig-Holstein Tourist Board. Her pictures are more than just beautiful views, they show a deep understanding of the character of a place - and the patience to capture it at the perfect moment. This special expressiveness was rewarded in 2024 with a gold medal in the prestigious German Photographic Association (DVF) competition on the theme of 'Silence' - a recognition that impressively confirms her position in contemporary photography.

10Photos says: Ulla Moswald inspires with photography that appears calm and quiet at first glance - and speaks all the more powerfully at second glance. Her photographs combine technical precision with emotional depth. They are not random snapshots, but carefully composed images that seek the extraordinary in the supposedly familiar: a glow on the horizon, a reflection of light on the water, a dramatic, moving sky. She doesn't just photograph what she sees - she shows what she feels. And that is what makes her images so unique, so timeless, so special. We are more than enthusiastic about Ulla's magnificent and atmospheric photographs, her wonderful works of art.
