Sasan Amir

Born in the mid-1990s, Sasan Amir has come a long way, and not just geographically. He began traveling with his camera as a child, and over the years, as a self-taught photographer, he developed into an internationally sought-after wildlife photographer, filmmaker, and conservationist. Today he lives in Saarbrücken, Germany, but spends more than three quarters of the year in the most remote regions of the world. His camera is much more than a tool - it is nature's mouthpiece.

Sasan's images are created under extreme conditions - often after days of patience, sweat, and silence in tropical rain forests, remote mountain regions, or dense coastal forests. The resulting images are visually powerful and clear, but free of gimmickry. These are stories that touch and stay with you: with precise aesthetics, controlled lighting, and vivid but never staged subjects. Each scene seems intensely experienced - not staged. And that is what makes his work so believable.

Sasan's work focuses on endangered species and their threatened habitats. He often portrays big cats and monkeys - in the wild and often far from human influence - but birds, whose habitats are disappearing, are also among his favorite subjects. In addition to the protection of wildlife, the pollution of the oceans is also an important theme in his photographic work. A dedicated conservationist, he approaches his subjects with profound knowledge, great respect and artistic flair - not only as a photographer, but also as a videographer. His studies in environmental sciences and his involvement in international conservation projects help him not only to document the behavior, habitat and threats to animals, but also to understand them.

Despite the global focus of his projects, Sasan remains connected to local nature: Foxes in Saarland, bears in Slovenia or owls in the Black Forest show that his gaze does not stop at the icons of wilderness. He is interested in the big picture as well as the small details, whether in the Andean highlands, the Ecuadorian cloud forest, the coasts of Indonesia, or close to home.

A central element of his work is a conscious break with the anonymity of classic nature photography. Sasan shows himself - in making-of videos or interviews. He takes his audience behind the scenes, making the challenges tangible and increasing the emotional impact of his work. His images are not only about animals, but also about encounters, perseverance, setbacks, and responsibility.

Thanks to their authenticity and emotional depth, Sasan's photos and videos have attracted worldwide attention: Publications in renowned national and international media such as National Geographic, BBC Earth, The Times, WWF Magazine and DigitalPHOTO attest to the outstanding quality of his work. At the same time, Sasan passes on his knowledge in workshops and mentoring programs - not as pure technical training, but as an invitation to see our world with different eyes and to understand photography as a contribution to nature conservation.

10Photos says: Sasan Amir manages to combine wildlife photography in its purest form with a deep ecological awareness. His images are clearly composed, technically precise, yet never emotionless - they radiate intimacy, devotion, and attitude. What makes them special is the palpable closeness between man and animal - a balance of observation and participation. Sasan is not only a photographer and videographer, but also a mediator: he brings us closer to the last retreats of wild animals - and makes visible what is at stake. His images reveal not only the beauty of nature, but also its fragility. And that is the power of his magnificent photography. We are more than impressed - by the man and the photographer Sasan Amir!
