Rolf Lampert
Rolf Lampert lives in Löhne, in north-eastern North Rhine-Westphalia. He works as a mechanical engineering developer and designer, a role that requires precise thinking and a keen eye for technical relationships. This professional background may also influence his photography, which is structured, well thought out and clear in its visual language. However, his images also possess an emotional depth that goes far beyond technical perfection.

Rolf developed a passion for photography at an early age, first in his school's black-and-white laboratory and later with his first camera. Growing up on the North Sea island of Norderney, he was influenced by the open landscape, the interplay of light and shadow, and the rhythm of the tides. This early connection to nature and image composition is evident throughout his photographic work. What began with analogue photography continues today with modern digital technology — yet his gaze remains the same: attentive, calm and focused on the essentials.
Rolf's work is characterised by clarity and concentration, as well as a keen sense of composition. Whether he is taking long exposures, architectural photographs, or street photographs, his images are always carefully composed and precisely structured. Lines guide the eye, light shapes depth and contrasts create tension. He uses colour sparingly, mostly working in black and white or with reduced colour concepts. Occasionally, he employs the colour key technique, deliberately highlighting individual colour accents. This stylistic device subtly reinforces the message of his images. This is precisely where the strength of his work lies. The colours do not distract, but rather focus the viewer's attention.
A sense of almost meditative calm pervades the long exposures. Movements become traces of time, and the sky and water merge to form flat structures. Rolf also applies this principle of reduction to his architectural photography. Rooms become geometric compositions, with forms taking centre stage. Even in his street and abandoned places photography, his unmistakable signature style remains: unemotional and precise with a respectful view of the scene. His photos are never loud or intrusive, but always observant and understated.
Although he draws inspiration from renowned photographers such as Ronny Behnert, Rolf Endermann, Frank Loddenkämper and Daniel Mittermeier, his photographic style is entirely his own. Rather than following trends, he is constantly refining his style and developing new ways to realise his visual ideas. For him, photography is not just a hobby, but a way of seeing, experiencing and sharing the world.

His works stand out due to their creative consistency, keen sense of structure and remarkable tranquillity. They are not dramatic images, and this is precisely what makes them so powerful. Each photograph tells a story, captures a moment of silence and offers a thoughtful perspective on the world. His photography inspires because it strips away the insignificant to reveal the essential. Photography and art merge into a wonderful whole – fantastic!
