Raphaela Meyer, an ambitious people photographer from Plons in Sarganserland, Canton St. Gallen, Switzerland, discovered her love of photography at an early age. What began at school with analogue snapshots of her classmates developed into a passion for landscape photography thanks to her love of travelling. At some point, however, she pragmatically realised that early morning alarm clocks and hiking boots were not really her world. So her focus gradually shifted from the deserted expanses of lonely landscapes to the people themselves.

Seit 2017 konzentriert sich Raphaela auf das, was ihr am meisten Spaß macht: Peoplefotografie. Egal ob intensive Portraits, ästhetische Aktfotografie oder kreative Experimente mit Licht und Schatten, sie fühlt sich in allen Bereichen zu Hause. Bemerkenswert ist, wie in ihren Bildern nicht nur die äußere Schönheit, sondern auch der Charakter und die Stimmung der Porträtierten sichtbar werden. Dabei arbeitet Raphaela auch gerne mit langen Belichtungszeiten, um Bewegungsunschärfen zu erzeugen und so die Emotionen zu verstärken. Oft ist es ein Schuss Humor, der ihre Bilder noch persönlicher und authentischer erscheinen lässt. Dies betont die Vielseitigkeit der sympathischen und einfühlsamen Fotografin.

Another focus of her work is image editing. While some photographers end the design process after the shoot, Raphaela's creative process continues. Whether she is making minimal adjustments or getting lost in Photoshop, the aim is always to get the best out of each image. She prefers naturalness, but is not afraid to experiment with composing or beauty retouching if the idea in her head demands it.

Raphaela has fulfilled a dream with her own photography studio. Not only does it give her flexibility in unpredictable weather, but it also allows her to play with light and shadow. The atmosphere at shoots is relaxed and casual, which underlines her ability to work with people.

In addition to photography, she shares her passion as a writer, including in Exxposed Magazine, and has been featured in prestigious publications such as PROGRESS and SWAN Fine Art Magazine. She has also exhibited her work several times at photoSCHWEIZ, one of the largest and most important photography exhibitions in the German-speaking world.
