Raik prepares for his photo tours with an uncompromising passion for the right light and the perfect moment. Using modern equipment and a good dose of luck, he meticulously plans his photo tours, as it often takes just a few minutes to find the ideal light and create an image with a unique atmosphere. He is not only interested in technical perfection, but also in capturing emotions that reflect the character of a place.
His landscape photographs stand out from the crowd. Fresh, unusual perspectives, the skilful integration of foreground elements and a harmonious colour scheme give his work an elegant, almost artistic effect. In addition, subtle shadows, targeted lighting and balanced post-processing create sensitive, authentic photographs. Whether capturing dramatic skies, soft dawns or the magical glow of the blue hour, Raik captures both transience and beauty.
In addition to his exceptional photography, Raik shares his extensive knowledge with aspiring landscape photographers through PhotoTours4U. Together with Serdar Ugurlu , he organises and leads photographic tours and workshops, covering everything from camera handling to composition, lighting and post-processing. From one-day courses to multi-day tours, he is passionate about teaching you what it takes to create great landscape images.
Among his most important publications is the book FOTOSCOUT – Pfälzerwald fotografieren, in which he and Michael Lauer present the best photo spots in their home region. Numerous articles, reports in renowned magazines such as NaturFoto and his media presence at international photo fairs underline Raik's expertise. Television appearances have been a particular highlight: A report on his photography was broadcast on SWR and he was able to present his passion and working methods to a wide audience in the 'Couch Talks' programme on Landesschau Rheinland-Pfalz.
Raik's commitment has not only helped to raise the profile of the Pfälzer Wald as a photographic treasure trove, but has also enhanced his recognition as an expert - for example at trade fairs and as a brand ambassador. Although he occasionally dabbles in wildlife and wedding photography, it is his sheer fascination with landscapes - whether at home or around the world - that remains his greatest motivation.
