By 2024, Kristof had travelled to more than 50 countries around the world, working for tourism authorities and travel companies around the world. His photography took him to places such as Cape Horn, the Peruvian Amazon rainforest, the remote coasts of Colombia, the Cape of Good Hope, the Arctic Circle and the ancient forests of New Zealand. The adventures of his trip to New Zealand were published in October 2024 in a National Geographic coffee table book entitled 'In the Land of the White Cloud'.
Kristof came to photography via an unusual route: his first iPhone and Instagram. An early adopter, he discovered the joy of capturing moments with his smartphone camera. The limitations of the app at the time, which allowed only snapshots without much post-processing, forced him to focus intensely on image composition and timing. This experience laid the foundation for his creative approach today. He bought his first SLR, a Nikon D5100, for a trip - with the intention of returning it afterwards. But it soon became clear that the camera and photography would become an integral part of his life.
Kristof's photographs are characterised by an impressive versatility and a keen sense of detail that goes far beyond the documentary, capturing the beauty of fleeting moments - be it the stillness of early morning, the intense colours of a sunrise, or the clear, high-contrast textures of ice and snow. He is particularly fascinated by scenes that are given depth and effect through the use of lighting, such as backlighting or fog. In addition to classic landscape shots, he often incorporates people and buildings into his compositions, using unusual perspectives to create photographs that not only tell stories, but also reflect the character of the location. Aerial shots from drones, helicopters or planes add to his repertoire and give his images a special dynamic.
Kristof is particularly passionate about sharing his knowledge. Since 2014, he has been teaching in workshops, on photo trips and in individual coaching sessions. His aim is not only to teach the technical basics of photography and image processing, but also to develop the creative potential of the participants. He places great emphasis on practical relevance and simple explanations that make even complex material understandable. In addition to his courses, he regularly publishes tutorials on social media platforms that provide valuable tips for both beginners and advanced photographers. His photo tours take you to the most beautiful places in the world and combine learning with unforgettable experiences.
