Born in the early 1960s, Klaus Wegele from Mainz, Germany, has undergone a remarkable transformation - from IBM manager to passionate dance and people photographer. A decisive turning point in his artistic career was when he quit his time-consuming job in 2016, giving him the freedom to follow his true calling. Today he is passionate about capturing the unique aesthetic of dance. His close connection to his homeland is evident in his daily surroundings - in the old apartment he shares with dancers and in the charming city of Mainz, which continues to inspire him.

Klaus' style is characterised by a direct and authentic approach. He is particularly fascinated by the challenge of capturing the dancers' flowing lines and physical tension. To show them at their best, he usually photographs from a low perspective, often lying down. This angle makes the bodies appear longer, accentuates the dynamics of the movements and intensifies the tension in the poses. Klaus also captures extremely brief moments of 'levitation' - moments when the actors seem to defy gravity, creating an almost magical dynamic. His images always leave room for interpretation: they show not only the technical precision of the movement, but also the confidence and emotional power inherent in these moments.

Over the course of his career, Klaus has become an internationally renowned ballet photographer. Since the beginning of his professional photography career, he has worked extensively with the Delattre Dance Company, a professional and international dance company based at the Kammerspiele theatre in Mainz, Germany. He has also accompanied companies from Russia and Ukraine, and his knowledge of the Russian language has enabled him to gain the trust of many artists.
