Klaus-Peter Selzer

Klaus-Peter describes himself as a "passionate photographer" and it is this enthusiasm that is reflected in every one of his images. His conviction: "Photographs should not always just depict reality, but also leave a little room for your own ideas, imagination and fantasy". With this attitude, he has created an impressive body of work that is both documentary and artistic.

His favourite subjects range from the rugged beauty of the North - with images from Iceland, Scotland, Ireland and Norway - to exotic images from Africa. Klaus-Peter's wildlife photography in particular demonstrates his impressive ability to capture animals in extraordinary moments. His images of greyhound racing or wild horses in the Camargue convey a dynamism and power that literally draws the viewer into the scene. His 'animal models' are not documentary, but humorous, lively and stylishly staged.

Another of Klaus-Peter's trademarks is his creative diversity: while some of his works show pure movement and dynamism, others radiate calm and sublimity. For him, versatility means not only covering a wide range of subjects, but also having a constant curiosity to explore different techniques and approaches. Since 2005, he has worked exclusively digitally, using a range of lenses from 8mm to 500mm.

The quality of his work is reflected in numerous national and international awards. He won the title of Rheinischer Fotomeister in 1989, the KODAK Millennium Award in 1998 and the HIPA Award in Dubai in 2013. He was also awarded the prestigious title of MFIAP by the Fédération Internationale d'Art Photographique (FIAP) in 2019. These awards are just some of his achievements, as his work has earned him worldwide recognition. Other medals, honours and exhibitions testify not only to his extraordinary talent, but also to his continuous development as a photographer.

Klaus-Peter's work has been published in numerous magazines and photography journals, including renowned titles such as GEO Special and PHOTOGRAPHIE. His work has also been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Saarbrücken, Esch/Alzette and Tongeren.
