A special place in Husum dedicated to contemporary photographic art.
Hidden between the port facilities and silos of Husum's outer harbor is an insider's gem for photography enthusiasts: the House of Photography. While the building appears modest from the outside, it reveals itself to be a vibrant space for engaging with the art of photography.

Since its founding in May 2020, the museum has seen itself as more than just an exhibition space; it has also seen itself as a platform for young talent. The museum offers aspiring photographers a stage, bringing the spectrum of contemporary photography to life. The museum has its own photo studio where regular workshops on topics such as portrait photography, analog techniques, and camera technology are offered.
The exhibition is divided into three sections that change every quarter. The "Art in the Museum" section features works that address social issues and critically examine reality and perception. Director Lothar Detert emphasizes displaying thought-provoking pieces that challenge our worldview.
To balance the often profound main exhibition, "Art in the Hallway" typically showcases quieter landscape-related or documentary works, providing visual respites between the main themes. The "Art in the Studio" section, on the other hand, showcases promising artists whose work could become the focus of the museum in the future.
With its creative diversity, spirit of experimentation, and keen sense of social relevance, the House of Photography makes Husum an exciting place for photographic art.
