Hans Severin
Hans Severin, born in 1966 and based in Hanover, Germany, has dedicated himself to street photography since 2010, inspired by international collectives such as Seconds2Real and iN-PUBLiC. After starting with digital photography in Paris and London in 2006, he quickly developed a passion for capturing urban life in all its facets.

For him, it is the people and their stories that give urban space its special charm. He sees every moment as an opportunity to photograph authentic, touching and humorous scenes - always spontaneous and open to what the street has to offer, without losing sight of the creative subtleties. Since 2024, he has also rediscovered the charm of analogue photography, which gives his images a nostalgic warmth. At the same time, he relies on digital technologies such as the compact Fuji X and Ricoh GR cameras to capture the special atmosphere of urban environments in an unobtrusive and powerful way.
His work has been recognised in renowned publications such as 'The Street Photographer Book - 27 Worldwide Photographers', '25 Inspiring Street Photographers' and 'Who's Who of the German Street Photography Scene'. Since 2016, he has also received numerous awards at international competitions such as the Monochrome Awards, the International Photography Awards and the Moscow International Photo Awards. Group exhibitions in Athens, Budapest and Tehran also testify to the international recognition of his work.
Inspired by American New Colour Photography and drawing on a collection of nearly 200 illustrated books, Hans Severin continues to find his own ways and new interpretations. His images are characterised by creative composition and situational comedy, with deliberately chosen perspectives and precise framing to focus the eye on the essential. He works in both colour and black and white, proving that colour, when used skilfully, can enhance the impact of a photograph. Whether it's details of urban landscapes, details of everyday life or contrasting combinations of lines and textures, his portfolio is varied and always exciting.
