Claudia Kobrow

Claudia Kobrow was born in Rostock in 1972, grew up in Hesse and now lives in Bremen, where she works as a forwarding agent. But her passion for photography has been with her since childhood. Her grandfather gave her her first camera when she was just six years old. Although the combination of childish curiosity and a screwdriver only kept the camera alive for a few days, her enthusiasm for photography was finally ignited at the age of eight. The second camera survived the urge to explore and so began a journey that took her from simple holiday snaps to street photography and finally to people photography, which she has been pursuing with dedication since 2021.

Claudia has a particular preference for black and white, as the absence of colour enhances the emotional depth and expressiveness of her images. Her work is characterised by an intense atmosphere, showing strength and vulnerability in a fascinating interplay. With a keen sense of emotion and special moments, she captures moments that are deeply moving.

Her paintings exude sensuality, melancholy and a powerful presence. It is often the small, subtle details that captivate the viewer: a glance, a gesture, a smile. She enhances the pictorial effect with creative techniques such as double exposures, motion blur or experimental camerawork that blur the boundaries between classic photography and art.

A central element of her work is the close interaction with her subjects. Drawing on her own experience as a model, she knows how to guide her models sensitively without pushing them. With the motto "lead, don't command", she creates a relaxed atmosphere that translates into authentic and sensitive images. Her concepts are often well thought out and creative, but leave plenty of room for individual expression.

This likeable photographer also focuses on emotionality and sensitive sensuality in her nudes. She is less concerned with naked skin than with the feelings and stories conveyed in the images. The models always retain their dignity and charisma.
