After completing a Bachelor's degree in Biology in Giessen and a Master's degree in Vienna, Chris combined his scientific knowledge with his passion for photography. As a trained biologist and Master of Science in Zoology, he is able to interpret animal behaviour and capture fleeting moments in nature. This deep understanding, coupled with his technical expertise, makes him an exceptional observer and photographer.

He is also active in nature and wildlife conservation and is a member of the Hessian Society for Ornithology and Nature Conservation (HGON), the Owl Working Group, the Society for Nature Photography (GDT) and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU).

Chris is dedicated to both documenting and emotionally portraying the animal world in all its facets. While still a student, he undertook his first research trips, which took him to fascinating places such as the Falkland Islands, Lapland and Costa Rica. Further travels to Hungary, Slovenia and Iceland have added to his photographic portfolio.

In addition to these international impressions, Chris places great importance on capturing native regions and typical species such as owls in their habitat. He photographs wildlife in both unspoilt or semi-natural landscapes and urban spaces, documenting the diverse coexistence and interaction between humans and animals. His images are intended not only to capture aesthetic moments, but also to raise awareness of the need to conserve and protect these habitats.

Chris's work is a successful combination of technical precision and creative expression. He uses advanced technologies such as eye autofocus and continuous shooting to capture fast-moving animals in great detail. His style is particularly striking: atmospheric lighting, creative bokeh effects and intense contrasts created by the interplay of light and dark give his images a special depth. The deliberate use of reflections, sharpness and blurring draws the eye to the essentials while giving them an artistic character. As well as colourful nature shots, Chris loves black and white photography and reduced, minimalist compositions.

Not only are his subjects varied, but so is his staging: sometimes he shows the animals from a distance in their natural habitat, sometimes he focuses on fine details - captured through close-ups or abstract-looking image details. This creative approach allows even frequently photographed animals to be impressively staged.

Beyond photography, Chris is also an influencer - regularly sharing images, experiences and knowledge on Instagram, YouTube and other social media platforms. He also runs workshops to inspire photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Numerous publications - from coffee-table books and calendars to specialist books - document his projects and showcase stunning images of wildlife both familiar and less familiar. He has won numerous awards, including European Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the mammal category.
