Achim is a master at capturing urban landscapes and the people within them in a minimalist yet powerful way. His photographs are characterised by graphic elements with clear geometric shapes. He is able to combine the dynamics of urban life with the aesthetics of architecture. Through the use of light and shadow and the inclusion of passers-by, he creates exciting compositions that tell stories and stimulate the imagination.
A central element of his work is the 'expected coincidence'. Achim observes closely and anticipates how a situation might unfold so that he can shoot at the perfect moment. His photographs show more than just the obvious. They capture moods and relationships and make them visible. Everyday scenes are captured in such a way that they take on a new meaning, creating images that often evoke bizarre or thought-provoking associations between the people depicted and their surroundings. His 'Parallel Worlds' series, in which he captures spontaneous encounters between people and objects, is particularly well known, as seen here on the humorous cover.
By combining static geometry with dynamic moments, Achim succeeds in depicting the city as a changing place. His work pays homage to the vibrancy of urban life and the architecture that defines it. At the same time, his photographs remain accessible, inviting the viewer to discover the stories behind the images. Achim keeps a low profile when it comes to image editing. He uses Lightroom and occasionally Photoshop to add the finishing touches, but without changing the message of the image.
His photographs have been shown at numerous national exhibitions, including the Discovery Art Fair in Frankfurt and Cologne, KUNST/MITTE in Magdeburg and ARTMUC in Munich. Achim has also been able to show his work to a wide audience at prestigious international events such as the Xposure Festival in Sharjah and the Trieste Photo Days. He is particularly proud of his exhibitions in Zweibrücken, Germany, where he presented authentic yet humorous portraits of his home town.

10Photos says: Achim Katzberg's images are fascinating because they are much more than just documentation of urban scenes. He knows how to transform the inconspicuous, often overlooked moments of everyday life into art. The harmony between geometric shapes, architectural details and the random movements of people creates a special tension that captivates us. His photographs are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also thought-provoking. They invite us to rediscover the rhythm and poetry of urban life and to see the beauty in the everyday. But they are also works in which one can find oneself and which evoke memories. This is street photography at its best, and we are more than impressed by Achim's art.
